BBC pundit Garth Crooks says that West Ham winger Michail Antonio should be made to train at the academy if he ever repeats the mistake he made against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

With the Hammers holding on to a 2-1 lead, and with seconds to play in stoppage time, Antonio decided to chip a cross into the box rather than running towards to the corner flag and holding on to possession.

Crooks says such an error should only be expected among schoolboys. In his column for the BBC, he said:

“What madness is that? Antonio should spend the next four weeks training with academy scholars if he’s going to make schoolboy errors like that.”

Both manager Slaven Bilic and goalkeeper Joe Hart were extremely critical of the way West Ham let their lead slip in the dying moments of the game at Selhurst Park, and will no doubt have expressed their frustration at Antonio himself after full time as well.

The 27 year old has one goal in nine Premier League games this season, and his lack of goals have certainly not helped the Hammers in their battle to improve their league position so far this campaign.
