For a man signed as, at the time, the club’s record signing at £15 million, Andy Carroll’s goal record, is quite simply, not good enough.
During his time with West Ham, Carroll has failed to hit double figures, with his highest for the campaign being a lacklustre 9 goals. To be pushing for Europe as they should, West Ham should be looking for a 20 goal a season striker – something they have hopefully finally found in Javier Hernandez – and not a man who finds the net on the odd occasion.
