Only one week remains in this summer’s transfer window. The deadline, next Thursday night, signals the end of what has been a busy few months for a number of Premier League clubs.
Some have had successful transfer windows – the likes of Manchester United and Everton have both made some solid acquisitions – while others have not. Newcastle, despite spending nearly £40 million, are yet to add talent of any note, while Tottenham Hotspur have only signed one player, that being Southampton goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga.
Amongst those in the former of those categories falls West Ham. Slaven Bilic’s side have had a solid window, bringing in a number of high profile names. Javier Hernandez – formerly of Manchester United – is the Hammers’ marquee signing, while Marko Arnautovic, Joe Hart and Pablo Zabaleta will all add much needed top flight experience and quality to a mis-matched squad.
With a week remaining though, business is still there to be done, and after the Hammers opening two games, form suggests that may need it.
