Former Arsenal defender turned pundit Martin Keown thinks West Ham have only an ‘outside chance’ of a top half finish this season.

Speaking in the Daily Mail, Keown gave a run down of the Hammers side and their chances ahead of the opening weekend, including identifying the club’s key players and acknowledging their business in the transfer market.

Despite Keown describing Manuel Lanzini as a ‘special talent’ and hailed the signings both of Javier Hernandez and Joe Hart – both of whom he believes are excellent additions at the London Stadium – he does not believe Slaven Bilic’s men are likely to improve on last season.

“Slaven Bilic is under real pressure to make the London Stadium feel like home. West Ham conceded three or more goals seven times at the ground last season and need to become much harder to beat. The manager’s position seemed in peril last season and if West Ham do not get off to a good start, Bilic could pay the price.” wrote Keown.

“Sort out the home woes and an improved season beckons. Outside chance of a top-10 finish.”

While the answer to the question who will win the Premier League title is unlikely to be West Ham, the Hammers shouldn’t have any worries in preserving their top flight status for another season.
