West Ham youngster Nathan Trott says he is aiming to move towards the first team this season following his successful summer with England U-19s.

Trott was part of the England squad that won the U-19 European Championship earlier this summer, after his impressive performances as West Ham U-23’s first choice keeper had earned him a spot in Georgia.

The 18-year-old – who only switched to playing in goal a few years ago having grown up as a midfielder – hopes he can use the experience to help him in his career at the London Stadium.

“It was a long but successful summer. Obviously next time I’d like to play and get more minutes, but it’s always good to be in a squad of that quality and win a major championship.” said Trott speaking on whufc.com, before adding: “Hopefully next time I can get some more minutes and keep pushing myself as I’d love to be in goal at the Euros and, if all goes well, the U20 World Cup next summer!”

When asked about his immediate future in East London, Trott has no qualms about admitting he has his sights set high despite his young age.

“I am hoping to move towards the first-team squad this season. I would like to be the one to fill that spot as I feel I am ready for it. Hopefully I can be on the bench and maybe make my first-team debut in a cup game. Whatever comes, I’m ready!”
