West Ham and Everton have both made contact with La Liga side Valencia over the potential transfer of defender Aymen Abdennour, despite the Tunisian thought to have already agreed to join Zenit St Petersburg, reports RMC Sport.

Both clubs have made contact with his current club in the past 24 hours or a possible switch to the Premier League, however a deal is unlikely to materialise with the player thought to be uninterested in a move to England.

Having already passed his medical for a move to Zenit St Petersburg, Abdennour is said to be delaying his transfer in case Marseille come in, wanting to return to France if possible with a club who feels can give him a ‘good challenge’.

The Tunisia international had previously played in France with Toulouse and AS Monaco between 2011 and 2015, however moved to Spain with Valencia in the summer of 2015 as a replacement for Manchester City bound Nicolas Otamendi.

After a difficult past season however, Abdennour is expected to leave the La Liga outfit this summer.
