West Ham will welcome back Manuel Lanzini to their match-day squad this weekend when Slaven Bilic’s side travel to St James’ Park to take on Newcastle United.

The Argentine has missed the Hammers opening three fixtures of the season following an injury sustained in pre-season, however after working hard on the training ground and the gym, he could make his return to action tomorrow afternoon.

Bilic’s men travel to the Magpies looking for their first points of the new Premier League season after having lost their opening two games. The Hammers first fell victim to a rampant Manchester United, losing 4-0 nearly two weeks ago, and last weekend were narrowly defeated by Southampton 3-2 at St Mary’s.

Having overcome Cheltenham Town in the Carabao Cup in mid-week however, the Hammers will be boosted by their first win of the season, as well as the return of Lanzini – a player many consider to be the club’s star man.

“He is definitely going to be involved in the squad, and we will see how much we use him. It’s a big boost and it’s good he and Cheikhou [Kouyate] are back. Cheikhou played 20 minutes [against Cheltenham] to see how he feels.” said Bilic.

“He also looks sharp and that’s good for us. The players are all coming back now. It’s good for us to be fair.”
