Sam Clucas
Sam Clucas’ ‘non-league to Premier League’ makes Jamie Vardy’s seem like a stroll in the park. Released by Leicester City at youth level, then Lincoln City as a pro, Clucas played for Jerez Industrial (who? I know) before getting a break in the form of a trial at Hereford United.
His rise to prominence with then Mansfield Town, Chesterfield Town and finally Hull City was fast and well deserved. Last season the midfielder proved he has what it takes to compete at the highest level, and was arguably the Tiger’s best player during their relegation campaign, making 41 appearances and scoring 3 goals, including a cracker against Watford.
