New signing Pablo Zabaleta says he is settling well with the ‘fantastic’ people at West Ham only two weeks after joining up with his new team-mates.

The Argentine is currently in Austria with the rest of Slaven Bilic’s squad, and could be in line to make his debut tonight for the Hammers as they take on Sturm Graz II in the first of six pre-season friendlies.

Speaking on whufc.com ahead of the fixture, the former Manchester City defender said: “I’m so happy and pleased to have joined West Ham. The ten days we’ve been in training have been fantastic – they are great lads, the manager, his staff and all the people working at the Club seem like nice people.

“Even if it has only been ten days, it seems like I have been training with the lads for a year to be honest.  There is a really good atmosphere in the dressing room.”

Zabaleta joined the Hammers after being let go by Manchester City at the end of last season, but says he is already looking forward to a new challenge next year with his new club.

“Our commitment as players is to give 100% on the pitch and off it. I do really believe that this a massive club that is looking to do well. I can’t wait for the start of the season.”
