West Ham are set to battle RB Leipzig for the signature of highly rated Caen youngster Yann Karamoh, according to reports from The Sun.

The 18-year-old attacker burst onto the scene in Ligue 1 last year with Caen, scoring 5 goals and creating 4 assists, helping his side escape relegation from the French top flight.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic is reportedly ready to make a near £9 million swoop for the teenager this summer as he looks to bolster his options going forward ahead of the new season, but will face competition from Bundesliga side Leipzig in his pursuit of the Ivory Coast born star.

Little known outside of France, both sides are keen to snatch his signature early before some of Europe’s heavyweights come sniffing.

As Monaco were also thought to be interested in Karamoh, however are now likely to turn their attention elsewhere after having signed Barcelona youngster Jordi Mboula.

Karamoh has played at youth level for France through the U-16s to currently the U-21s, making 21 appearances and scoring 7 goals.
