West Ham could make a move for Lazio defender Wesley Hoedt, according to Italian newspaper Il Messaggero (via Tuttomercatoweb).

The Italian club are said to be considering allowing the 23 year old to leave if the side manage to sign veteran centre half Gonzalo Rodriguez from Fiorentina on a free transfer.

Hoedt made 26 appearances in all competitions for Lazio last season under manager Simone Inzaghi. He actually made more appearances in his first campaign for the club, playing 35 games in the 2015/16 season, but he garnered international recognition back in March.

Then Netherlands boss Danny Blind gave Hoedt his debut in the 2-0 defeat to Bulgaria in a World Cup qualifier, with the centre back coming on for Matthijs De Ligt for the second half. Blind was sacked after the match though, but the Lazio defender has continued to play for the national side.

Three days after the Bulgaria loss, he played the full 90 minutes in the 2-1 friendly defeat to Italy, and he was then given his second start under new coach Dick Advocaat in the 2-1 win over Morocco yesterday.
