A West Ham scout was spotted among the crowd as Benfica sealed their fourth consecutive league title after a 5-0 win against Vitoria Guimaraes, according to Abola (via Sport Witness).

The Portuguese newspaper reports that the Hammers, along with three other Premier League clubs in Watford, Manchester United and Arsenal had representatives in the stands for the match on Saturday, although they don’t mention which players they were there to see.

The most recent link to a player in either team came in Abola at the end of last month when West Ham were said to be tracking attacking midfielder Paolo Hurtado. The Peruvian international is on loan from Reading, and has had a good season in Portugal.

In 38 games this campaign, the 26 year old has scored nine goals and provided three assists. The Hammers scout would not have been impressed by what he saw at the weekend though with Hurtado substituted at half time with Benfica already 4-0 up.
