Swansea City may snap up West Ham full back Alvaro Arbeloa at the end of the season, according to the Daily Mail.

The 34 year old has rarely featured for the Hammers since joining from Real Madrid on a one year deal last summer, and hasn’t played a minute of first team action since the end of last year.

Swans boss Paul Clement worked with Arbeloa when he was assistant manager at Real while working alongside boss Carlo Ancelotti, and he could look to sign the Spaniard on a free transfer when his contract expires in June.

Arbeloa has been suffering with a leg injury which has kept him out of action since the New Year, restricting him to just four appearances in all competitions this season. When he was fit however, he was still rarely used by manager Slaven Bilic.

The former Spanish international, who has 58 international caps, has barely played over the past two years, having also made just nine appearances in his final season at the Bernabeu.
