Bologna are interested in signing West Ham defender Angelo Ogbonna, according to Il Resto del Carlino (via Tuttomercatoweb).

The Italian publication reports the Serie A side are seeking a new centre back, and have scouted the Hammers player during the season. The 28 year old joined the London club from Juventus for €11million in 2015, and quickly established himself as a first team regular under manager Slaven Bilic.

The centre half’s performances with West Ham were rewarded with a call up to Italy’s squad for Euro 2016. He played one game during the tournament, playing in the third group match where they lost 1-0 to the Republic of Ireland.

Since Gian Piero Ventura took over from Antonio Conte as national team manager however, he has made just one substitute appearance against Israel back in September, and despite being fit, was not called up for the November internationals against Liechtenstein and Germany.

Il Resto del Carlino say that a desire to return to the international setup may influence Ogbonna’s decision to leave for Serie A, with Bologna the current front runners.
