Manchester City right back Pablo Zabaleta could join West Ham “in the next 48 hours” according to Evening Standard journalist Ken Dyer.

The 32 year old has been widely expected to make the free transfer switch to the London club for the past few weeks but up until now it has been reported that the Argentinian has been carefully weighing up his options over his next move.

The fact that Hammers boss Slaven Bilic looks set to stay on as manager after a positive meeting with the club’s board yesterday may have proved a deciding factor in the transfer being finalised.

West Ham have struggled to fill the right back spot all season with a host of players including Sam Byram, Havard Nordtveit, Cheikhou Kouyate and Michail Antonio all having been tried in the role. With the wealth of experience that Zabaleta offers in the club’s problem position, it seems a good fit for both the Hammers and the player himself.
