Transfer speculation doesn’t come much better than from the twitter account of the club chairman.

With the Yaya Toure story off and running last night some important business closer to home looks close to completion.

Despite the problems all around him in the team Michail Antonio has been in outstanding form this season, at times too good with other clubs, noticeably Chelsea taking note and looking on enviously.

The 27-year-old signed a new deal at the start of the season but such is the pace of football inflation that talks about an improved new deal became inevitable.

Antonio’s current deal runs until 2020 but a significant pay rise with an extra year added on will be welcome news to most fans as the club attempts to settle in to life at the London Stadium.

With Gold confirming that a new deal is about to be rubber stamped Slaven Bilic can proceed with his other transfer plans.
