West Ham co-owner David Gold has revealed on Twitter that Hammer star Michail Antonio is “close to signing” a new deal to remain at the London Stadium.

The 27 year old was named the club’s player of the year last night, and hinted in his comments after receiving the reward that he was keen to stay at the club.

The Times have reported that Antonio was unhappy about the contract that had been offered to him. The winger is reportedly on £35,000 a week, and wants to have wages that match the most well paid at the club; Jose Fonte and Robert Snodgrass.

The January signings are said to be on double what Antonio is currently earning, and it seemed there was a stand off between the player and the club after former Nottingham Forest player reportedly rejected a new offer.

Antonio was said to be set on moving from the Hammers in the summer, with Chelsea keen, but it seems there has been a breakthrough in talks with Gold’s latest comments.
