West Ham are ahead of West Brom and Everton in their pursuit of Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony, according to Sun journalist Mike McGrath.

The Ivorian international is currently on a season long loan at Stoke City but he has made just 11 appearances all season, and has not featured since returning from the African Cup of Nations.

After playing for the Ivory Coast in January, he returned to the Potters’ squad for the matches against Everton and West Brom in February. He didn’t make it off the bench for either match and has been subsequently omitted from the next six match day squads, including the weekend’s defeat to Leicester City.

Bony has revealed he is perplexed by his lack of game this season, and it is also unlikely he will have a future when he returns to the Etihad stadium in the summer either. City are believed to be prepared to sell for significantly less than the £25m they paid Swansea City for the player in 2014.

The Hammers are reportedly favourites for the 28 year old but Everton are also looking at the forward as a possible replacement for Romelu Lukaku, while Tony Pulis’s West Brom are keen on another target man to help out Salomon Rondon.
