Former West Ham manager Alan Curbishley says he believes that current manager Slaven Bilic will remain in charge for the start of next season.

The former Charlton boss feels Bilic will be given a pass on this campaign due to many mitigating circumstances but the Hammers’ board will be keeping a close eye on how the Croatian starts off next season. He told Talksport (quotes via Football.London):

“I think perhaps this season, because of the [stadium] move, the injuries etc , I think they will probably be saying ‘let’s see how he starts off next year’. I think that’s where they are at at the moment. I think they will look back at the recruitment in the summer. It was poor.”

Many of the club’s summer signings have failed to pay off. Simone Zaza, Gokhan Tore, Alvaro Arbeloa, Jonathan Calleri and Havard Nordtveit have all flopped, while the jury remains out on the likes of Andre Ayew, Arthur Masuaku and Sofiane Feghouli. Many West Ham fans also remain unconvinced by both Robert Snodgrass and Jose Fonte since their arrival in January.

The question remains whether the West Ham board will entrust Bilic with bringing in a better batch of signings for the start of next season.
