West Ham manager Slaven Bilic and the West Ham board could be set to clash over the appointment of backroom staff, according to Evening Standard journalist Ken Dyer.

Both the Standard and the Daily Mail have repeated this line over the past week suggesting that the Hammers hierarchy are unhappy with some of Bilic’s coaching team and want to make changes in the summer.

Owners David Gold and David Sullivan do have a history of getting involved with the appointments of backroom staff at West Ham. Back in 2010, they sacked Avram Grant’s assistant Zeljko Petrovic, and appointed a defensive coach in Wally Downes.

Whether Bilic will be willing to make changes to his coaching team, it remains to be seen. He is under pressure after four successive defeats but it is likely any changes will be made in the summer after the club’s season review meeting. If the Croatian finishes the season strongly, he may be in a better position to resist the changes, but if not, it may lead to a battle with the board.
