West Ham striker Jonathan Calleri is believed to be just “one step” away from joining Spanish side Las Palmas, according to the Corriere Dello Sport.

The Argentinian was said to be keener on joining former side Sao Paulo but the investment fund that own the 23 year old have decided that he should remain in Europe and join the La Liga club.

Calleri has not played for West Ham since late October, and manager Slaven Bilic stated in his press conference yesterday that the forward had given “100%” in training, but it looks to have been not enough.

The Hammers paid £4m for the Argentine to join them in the summer from Deportivo Maldonado but it seems likely now that they will cut the loan short in order for the player to join Las Palmas for the rest of the season.

The striker had been interesting the likes of Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Sevilla but the club from Gran Canaria seem to have won the race for Calleri’s signature.
