Lazio defender Wesley Hoedt has stated his desire to play more first team football. West Ham were linked to the Dutch Under 21 international by the Repubblica newspaper at the start of the month.

Hoedt has only made eight appearances in all competitions so far this season. He did however start and score in the 4-2 win over Genoa in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday night. Speaking after the match to reporters, he was quoted by Cittaceleste.it as saying he has spoken about more first team opportunities with manager Simone Inzaghi:

“I’m fine here, I spoke with the coach, but I want to play.”

Cittaceleste.it say his comments suggest that he doesn’t want to leave the Serie A club permanently but would be happy with a six month loan deal in order to get regular football.

Hoedt joined Lazio from AZ Alkmaar on a free transfer in 2015, signing a four year contract, and has made 43 appearances during his 18 month spell at the Stadio Olimpico.
