West Ham have opted to keep striker Jonathan Calleri on loan until the end of the season, according to La Provincia. The Las Palmas based newspaper have said that the decision means the forward will no longer be moving to Spain during this transfer window.

Calleri was expected to fly out to Gran Canaria a week ago but after scoring his first goal against Middlesbrough, the decision to allow the 23 year old to go to Las Palmas was changed.

La Provincia have reported that there had been an agreement between Las Palmas, Calleri and the investment fund that owns the player for several weeks, and they were awaiting confirmation from West Ham for the move to go ahead.

The email which would have confirmed the deal never came thoigh and Las Palmas president Miguel Ramirez revealed last week the Hammers were demanding more money for the move to go through.

West Ham are under no obligation to allow Calleri to leave. They paid Deportivo Maldonado £4m for a season long loan deal, and it now looks likely they will keep the Argentinian for the remainder of the campaign.
