AC Milan are willing to allow forward M’baye Niang to leave in the January transfer window on loan, according to the Evening Standard, but only if a club also commits to buying the player outright for £13million at the end of the season.

Niang has been a regular on the left wing under Vincenzo Montella this season but his recent performances have led the Rossoneri boss losing his faith in his ability to perform.

The Standard are tipping the Hammers to make a move for Niang if Dimitri Payet’s move to Marseille goes through in this transfer window, although they may have to face competition from Leicester City.

Niang’s stats this season don’t suggest someone who could immediately fill Payet’s shoes. In 17 Serie A matches, playing on the left wing, Niang has managed three goals, and provided three assists. At 22 the Frenchman no doubt has potential but the Hammers require someone who can hit the ground running and produce goals and assists from the off in the Premier League.
