Burnley striker Andre Gray says he is happy to stay at Turfmoor despite reports in the Mirror on Saturday that he had been subject to a £15m bid from West Ham.

The 25 year old was being interviewed by Eurosport when he was asked about the rumours linking him with a move to the London Stadium:

“I’m happy. We’re 10th in the league and I’m playing football and scoring goals – I don’t think I could be in a better position. It (speculation) is just what happens. If I didn’t score that hat-trick the other week then you might not hear my name. That’s just the way that football works, I suppose. It’s always good to hear your name mentioned in the right way but I’m happy here and I’m settled here.”

Before his hat-trick against Sunderland at the end of last month, the forward had scored just two goals all season in the Premier League, one of which came against Middlesbrough in the match preceding his three goals against the Black Cats.

Although it must be said he has missed some matches through suspension, his record of five goals in 17 appearances is hardly a record that would be an improvement on the forwards that are already at the club. Andy Carroll has three goals in nine league matches this season despite only returning to fitness in November.
