Brentford manager Dean Smith was asked about Scott Hogan’s potential departure from the club, and he revealed that an agent maybe preventing the move from going ahead.

Hogan has been subject to three bids from West Ham this month but will be available for selection for Brentford’s match against Newcastle United tomorrow. When asked about the reason for the hold up in Hogan’s transfer to the Hammers, Smith responded by saying:

“I’m not sure. An agreement normally takes three parties – the buying club, the selling club and the player but there’s sometimes a fourth one in the agent. As far as I’m aware, nothing has happened yet.”

It was believed that the key reason behind West Ham not being able to complete the deal for Hogan was down to the structure of payments. Sky Sports have reported that the Hammers offered £9million up front with £3million in add-ons. Brentford were said to be demanding £6million in add-ons to meet their £15million valuation of the player.

If Smith comments are to be believed however, there looks to be an additional obstacle in the deal which could cause some complications.
