West Ham are “pondering” whether to make a loan offer for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini, according to the Evening Standard.

Ken Dyer reports that Hammers boss Slaven Bilic is looking for a greater physical presence in the middle of the park after a start to the season where the London club have struggled defensively. West Ham have the second worst defence in the Premier League, and the third worst goal difference after the 5-1 defeat to Arsenal at the weekend.

The switch to a 3-4-3 formation near the start of the campaign has failed to bring many positive benefits, and if Bilic does survive until January, he may be looking at different options to improve the team’s soft centre.

Fellaini has made 14 appearances for United, but has failed to score or provide an assist for a team mate. He was a regular fixture in Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven at the start of the season but has started just one match in the last two months.
