West Ham co-owner David Sullivan believes the injury crisis in the West Ham squad is not helping manager Slaven Bilic improve results on the pitch.

Writing in a post on West Ham’s official website, Sullivan believes the injuries to four key players made the task against Arsenal on Saturday an extremely difficult one for the Hammers:

“You cannot hide away from the fact that we were missing a number of influential players through injury for the Arsenal game, including both our first choice wing-backs.”

“Michail Antonio and Aaron Cresswell are key members of our team and are players who make a big difference to the way we play. Just when we thought the injury situation is clearing up, we then lost Diafra Sakho for another six weeks and Cheikhou Kouyate damaged his hamstring.”

Despite Sullivan’s remarks, huge question marks remain over manager Bilic’s future at the London Stadium. The number of summer signings that have failed to live up to expectations is the one of the key reasons pressure is mounting on the Croatian.

Even though Sullivan does also say that Bilic needs time, and deserves to have it after last season’s success, momentum is key in the Premier League. West Ham have won just three league matches all season and are struggling defensively. Sitting in 17th place in December will mean Bilic has little time to turn things around.
