Valencia manager Cesare Prandelli has confirmed they are interested in signing Simone Zaza on loan. The Italian international will almost certainly return to Juventus after failing to score in 11 appearances for West Ham.

Prandelli has been to Singapore to talk with Valencia’s owner Peter Lim, and after the meeting he confirmed that Lim had promised him funds to buy four new players, and that Valencia’s hierarchy are working on a deal to bring Zaza in as one of those major new signings:

“In Singapore I spoke with Lim and I asked him for four purchases on the market in January. Zaza? I know him very well and he could be important for us, but it is something that the leaders will take care of.”

Valencia have been enduring an extremely difficult season and have already sacked one coach early on this campaign. They haven’t fared much better under Prandelli however, and lie in 17th, just one place above the relegation zone at the winter break.

Their on field situation has led to clashes between supporters and players who they feel are not working hard enough for the team. A significant overhaul of the playing squad has therefore been proposed for January with Zaza a key part of that.
