Former West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop has said he would back a move for Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford if the Hammers could pull off the transfer.

The Telegraph and other newspapers have reported that Slaven Bilic’s side have made enquiries about Rashford and team mate Anthony Martial as they seek to strengthen their attacking options in the January transfer window.

Although West Ham don’t expect anything to come of the enquiries, Hislop believes Rashford would hugely benefit from moving to the London Stadium. He told ESPN FC (quotes via the Daily Express):

“I like him a lot and [moving to the Hammers] would absolutely be a hit. There is no better team at bringing through young players than West Ham.”

The Hammers did bring in striker Ashley Fletcher from Manchester United in the summer on a free transfer after the 21 year old’s contract expired. His only goal for West Ham so far ironically came against United in the 4-1 defeat in the EFL Cup back in November. Whether Rashford would make the same switch looks highly unlikely currently though.
