The agent of CSKA Moscow midfielder Alan Dzagoev has confirmed that West Ham are in the running to sign the Russian international.

Speaking to Russian newspaper Sport Express, Anton Astafiev said that the Hammers, Everton and clubs from China have all expressed interest about a making a move for the 26 year oldĀ in the January transfer window:

“Everton and a number of other Premier League teams are interested. We’d been in touch with them in the summer, but unfortunately Alan was injured right before the Euros. Now the talks are on again and we are negotiating with representatives of these clubs… [We] will soon know if it’s Everton, West Ham or a club from a different league.”

Dzagoev had been tipped as a potential superstar when he first emerged on the scene as a teenager with the likes of Manchester United linked with the player. Although he never truly met the high expectations that some had of him, his time at CSKA has no doubt been successful.

In 284 appearances for the Russian club, the attacking midfielder has scored 62 goals and provided 78 assists in all competitions. Dzagoev has also reached 50 international caps for Russia, reaching the milestone back in September after playing in a friendly against Ghana, with the national side preparing to host the 2018 World Cup.
