West Ham United striker Jonathan Calleri says he is aware of the transfer speculation surrounding him at the Hammers but he wants to concentrate on making the most of his chance at the London stadium.

Talking to Fox Sports in Argentina, the 23 year old was asked about rumours linking him with La Liga side Sevilla. Calleri replied:

“You read and hear [things] but I try to be calm. I have six months contract with West Ham and dream to have a chance.”

Whether that chance will come is debatable. Despite Slaven Bilic desperately needing striking options with Diafra Sakho and Simone Zaza out injured, and Andy Carroll only recently coming back to full fitness, Calleri has been allowed to return to Argentina after failing to make the squad for the last five matches in all competitions.

He is currently on loan until the end of the season from Deportivo Maldonado but there is a strong possibility that the loan will be cut short in January due to the Argentinian’s lack of game time. A move to La Liga has been suggested as well as a return to South America, but Calleri has made it known he wants to stay and prove himself in a European league.
