West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has said he does not know what the future holds for striker Simone Zaza, with reports linking him with a move away from the Hammers in the January transfer window.

The absence of the Italian international from the squad to play Liverpool at the weekend led to suggestions that the forward will return to parent club Juventus next month, but Bilic was quick to clarify that Zaza was in fact injured for the match on Sunday and could not travel to Anfield as part of the squad.

The Hammers boss did however question the 25 year old’s long term future at the club. He is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying.

“He’s our player but got injured before Liverpool. He felt something in his knee. He is not in the squad or available. We don’t know what will happen in the future.”

Zaza still needs to play five more games in order for the move to the London Stadium to be made permanent. After failing to score for West Ham so far however, the Hammers are believed to be very reluctant to pay the £20million which would be needed to finalise the permanent transfer. With that being the case, a return to Turin looks to be on the cards with a move to Valencia the most likely possibility.
