One area that West Ham have really struggled with sorting this season is at right-back.
With Sam Byram out injured and Alvaro Arbeloa still trying to get up to speed the Hammers have had real difficulty making something work down that side.
It was the same last season. Michail Antonio was asked to do a job there at times when he is quite clearly more influential going forward and, though he did a good job, Slaven Bilic really would have thought the problem would be solved by now.
Except, it isn’t, and the Hammers are still improvising in that area.
We’ve seen a back three implemented at times by the Croatian manager to help alleviate things but that can only be a short-term fix when he’s having to shoehorn someone like Cheikhou Kouyate in as he did last weekend against Everton.
A new right back needs to be signed in January, then, and we think Bilic should be looking at these five in particular…
