According to The Sunday People, (via The Mirror,) West Ham, alongside Leicester City are in the hunt for Liverpool’s French international defender Mamadou Sakho.

The centre-half has not featured for the Reds so far in the Premier League season after being sent home early by manager Jurgen Klopp for poor discipline from their pre-season tour of the United States.

The former PSG man was a mainstay in the Anfield outfit’s team last season as they reached the Europa League final in Klopp’s first season but he has struggled to force his way into the side this time around and could be set for a January exit.

He has seen Joel Matip get ahead of him in the pecking order to partner Dejan Lovren in the Reds’ defence and, should the Hammers sign him, he’d be competing with the likes of Winston Reid and James Collins to start.

Sakho has been at Liverpool since 2013 and also has made 28 appearances for the French national side so far in his career.
