Napoli are considering a bid for on loan West Ham striker Simone Zaza, according Il Mattino. The Italian newspaper believe the Serie A side are ready to fight Milan to sign the Italian international.

The Italian club suffered a major blow in October when star striker Arkadiusz Milik was ruled out for a number of months with a knee injury he sustained on international duty for Poland.

Il Mattino say Napoli have considered a number of targets including Genoa’s Leonardo Pavoletti and Fiorentina’s Nikola Kalinic but both players are not for sale, according to their respective clubs.

Other options considered were Colombian striker Jackson Martinez and Watford’s Odion Ighalo but neither would be in Napoli’s budget. Zaza could be a solution, Il Mattino reports, but only if he signs permanently with West Ham. Italian media believe the Hammers will have to pay £17million after 10 appearances to make the deal permanent (the Italian has already made nine).

If the player does indeed make his tenth appearance but continues to play poorly, Napoli may swoop in January offering a cut price offer to take Zaza off the London club’s hands.
