West Ham and Inter Milan will fight it out to sign Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Express.

The 32 year old looks to be surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge after losing his place in the backline under Antonio Conte since the Blues switched to a back three.

The Serbian captain also has offers from China, and although a move maybe tempting for financial reasons, it is believed that the full back wants to remain in London, or at least in Europe, in order to stay close to his family.

With Crystal Palace no long in the running for the defender, it looks very much as if the Hammers will have a free run at recruiting the Chelsea veteran when the transfer window reopens.

The interest from Milan may prove a stumbling block but if Ivanovic is keen, as it is believed, to not move away from England, West Ham will surely be hot favourites for the player’s signature.
