Roma are interested in signing West Ham midfielder Pedro Obiang, according to the Corriere Dello Sport (via giallorossi.net). The Italian newspaper reports that Obiang is one of five midfield options the Serie A club are looking at when the January window open.
The prime target currently seems to be Napoli midfielder Jorginho, but Obiang, along with Sampdoria’s Karol Linetty, Lucas Torreira, and Genoa’s Tomas Rincon are also in the frame.
Obiang had a difficult first season with the Hammers after his switch from Sampdoria, and despite making 35 appearances last campaign, he started just 11 Premier League matches.
Again, this season he started out of favour under Slaven Bilic and had to settle for a place on the bench for the first six league matches of the season. Since the match against Middlesbrough at the start of October however, the 24 year old has started six league games in a row, and looks to have established himself in the side.
