RB Leipzig Sporting Director Ralf Rangnick has denied that the club is interested in signing centre back Reece Oxford from West Ham United.

Reports over the last week have linked the 17 year old with a move to the Bundesliga side but Rangnick was quick to deny the story in an interview with German newspaper BILD:

“We will not move for him neither this winter nor next summer. He once played a role, but the emphasis is on those who can play immediately.”

Leipzig are currently riding high in the Bundesliga, sitting second with the same points as league leaders Bayern Munich with both sides unbeaten after ten matches with seven wins and three draws.

The club were only promoted from the second division last season but are making light work of their first season in the top flight so far. Rangnick’s side were in the news earlier in the summer when they bought Alex Burke from Nottingham Forest for £13million with the German side looking to scour Europe for some of the best young talent leading to the links to Oxford.
