West Ham could be priced out of any future move for a former transfer target with Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette poised to sign a new contract with a release clause believed to be in a region of €70million.

French newspaper L’Equipe say that the new release clause will allow the 25 year old to leave the club if anyone matches the clause but the Hammers would be unlikely to meet such an evaluation.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas was quoted by the Sun after the Lyon’s 2-1 victory over Toulouse at the weekend that a new contract was in the works:

“I would like for us to be able to extend Alexandre’s contract.”

Lacazette is currently on a deal which runs until 2019, but the new contract being offered has a salary worth €6.36 million a season, which could tempt the French international to sign.

The forward has been in good form this season, scoring nine goals in seven Ligue One matches, but the French side are already 13 points behind surprise Ligue One leaders Nice.
