Quoted in The London Evening Standard West Ham captain has reflected on the weekend’s win over Crystal Palace with great pride for his side.

The two teams went into the game with Palace as the form side and the Hammers having only won once this season but it was the away team that came away with a confidence boosting victory from Selhurst Park.

Manuel Lanzini’s goal was the difference in the game as he steered home Aaron Cresswell’s low cross from the left hand side in the first half and the captain was pleased with what he saw: “I thought we were tremendous. They’ve got big players like Connor Wickham and Christian Benteke up front, but I thought our defence did a magnificent job, they dealt with them incredibly, it’s a top, top win for us.”

The win moved West Ham out of the relegation zone and into 15th ahead of Swansea, Middlesbrough and Hull who all lost and will now look to build on it with a victory over David Moyes’ Sunderland side who are currently bottom after losing to Stoke at the weekend.
