West Ham United could eye up a move for former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini if they sack Slaven Bilic, according to Italian media outlet CalcioMercato.

The 51-year-old Italian left his role as Inter Milan manager last month after little under two years in charge at the San Siro, and is now being linked with a return to the Premier League should the Hammers fire Bilic.

The Croat has overseen a disappointing start to the new Premier League season and indeed the new era at the London Stadium. His side have won just one of their first six matches and were knocked out of the Europa League in the first qualifying round by Astra Giurgiu.

What is of even greater concern to Hammers fans is how many goals Bilic’s side are conceding.

They have conceded a league-high 16 goals already this season, including 14 in their last four matches, and Bilic is under increasing pressure to turn their fortunes around.

However, if the owners do decide to make a change, they could turn to Mancini, who won the Premier League title with Manchester City in 2012.

His knowledge and experience of the top-flight could prove invaluable to West Ham, yet it appears that the owners will give Bilic time to improve the club’s results, although how much time they give him remains to be seen.
