West Ham United summer recruit Ashley Fletcher has stated that he wants to play as much as possible for the Hammers this season following his debut for the London club before the international break.

The 20-year-old opted to leave Manchester United and move to the London Stadium over the summer, in one of a host of new faces to be added to Slaven Bilic’s squad.

The young forward will have competition for places in the Hammers’ starting line-up, with the likes of Andy Carroll, Simone Zaza, Diafra Sakho among others hoping to play regularly.

Fletcher was given the nod to start against Manchester City in the club’s last Premier League game, which ended in a 3-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium.

The former Barnsley loanee has stated that he hopes to play regularly for Bilic’s men this season and that this will be critical in adding his development.

“My personal ambitions are to get as many games and as many minutes as possible,” he told the West Ham website.

“Whether it’s starting games or coming off the bench, I want to be involved as much as possible. I think I’ve made a good start and made an impact so far and hopefully that continues.”
