West Ham United players were photographed going out for a team-building meal together by The Daily Mail and Slaven Bilic has hit back at questions over his training ground standards.

The Hammers have had a turgid start to the new season, losing five our of their first six Premier League fixtures and being eliminated from the Europa League in the qualifying rounds.

The team looks like a fragment of the side that excelled last term, with Bilic openly admitting that confidence was an issue around the London Stadium.

However, the squad looks to be pitching in together in an effort to form some solidarity, with a must-win game against Middlesbrough to be played in the capital this weekend.

Meanwhile, Bilic has defended the fact that players’ children and pets are allowed to come to training, claiming that this is part of the relaxed atmosphere that he wants around the club.

“I said at the beginning of the season, when we moved into our newly refurbished training ground, that I wanted to create an environment where players felt comfortable spending time there before and after training, and would be happy to bring their kids sometimes,” the Croat told The Daily Mail.

“I am completely content with the balance of hard work and the welcoming environment of Rush Green Training Ground.”
