West Ham United are pushing forward in an attempt to sign Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid and are leading the race for his signature, according to AS.

The Hammers have been massively busy over the summer months and have already provided Slaven Bilic with a host of new players ahead of the 2016-17 Premier League campaign kicking off this weekend.

Odegaard is adjudged as one of the brightest young talents in Europe and has moved to the Spanish capital from his native Norway.

However, the Scandinavian schemer has had to make do with football in the youth and reserve ranks at the Santiago Bernabeu.

A loan move is on the cards this summer and Odegaard has no shortage of suitors, with Liverpool and a host of European teams also said to be interested in the playmaker.

That said, the latest report suggests that West Ham lead the race for the teenager’s signature and that the Norwegian could well be heading for east London.
