West Ham could yet sign Real Madrid youngster Martin Odegaard on a season-long loan deal according to AS, with the Spanish newspaper suggesting that a similar deal to take the teenager to Stade Rennais has broken down.

The Norwegian attacking midfielder has a venerable reputation and is being tipped as a future world-beater, despite still only being 17.

Madrid have snapped the Scandinavian up and have high hopes for him, but an immediate place in the Spanish giants’ first team is not forthcoming.

Zinedine Zidane wants to give Odegaard plenty of regular football to aid his development and as such a temporary stint elsewhere seems like the best option.

A deal to see the teenage sensation move to the French club was believed to be close to completion, but the latest development states that negotiations between the teams have broken down.

This could allow West Ham to reenter the race, especially after the injury worries that the club have early season.
