West Ham United offered as much as €50 million (£42.7m) for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette but this was still rejected by the French club, according to L’Equipe.
The Hammers have been busy in their attempts to bring a major centre forward to east London this summer and the France international was one of the first names on their wishlist.
Lyon are said to have rejected a number of offer from Slaven Bilic’s men for the superstar attacker, who has scored consistently in Ligue 1 over recent years.
L’Equipe confirm that West Ham failed with a bid of ‘around €50m’ for Lacazette because Lyon want to keep him & the player wants CL football

However, the latest report suggests that West Ham offered as much as more than £40 million for Lacazette – but this was not enough to see him move to the Premier League club.
The Clarets recently set a new club-record transfer fee by buying Andre Ayew from Swansea City, which was a deal that surmounted to less than half the offer being touted for Lacazette.
