New West Ham United signing Simone Zaza has thanked the club’s fans for welcoming him to the Premier League and stated that he hopes to become a better player at the English side.
The Hammers have been in the transfer market looking for attacking reinforcements and have landed the Italy international on a loan from Juventus initially, with a permanent deal set to occur at the end of the season if he is a hit.
Zaza was wanted by a host of other clubs in England and Italy, but has opted to join Slaven Bilic’s men.
The former Sassuolo forward will give the Croatian coach an extra option in the final third and brings experience and a proven goalscoring record to the London club.
Zaza has stated that he is thankful to the West Ham fans for their warm embrace and the fact that he played at the London Stadium in a friendly for Juventus convinced him to move to the Hammers.
“I want to thank everyone for welcoming me including the fans and everyone at the Club,” he told the West Ham official website.
“I wanted to start a new experience and I feel this is the right choice for me.
“I have been fortunate enough to have already played at the new Stadium with a different shirt. It is a beautiful stadium and I felt the warmth of the fans and this was a big reason why I wanted to join the Club.
“I want to become a better player and I know I can do that at West Ham. Unfortunately we could not qualify for the Europa League, but I am hoping I can help the Club do that next season.”
