According to reports, West Ham are interested in signing Georges Kevin-N’Koudou, one of the hottest prospects in Ligue 1.

The 21-year-old attacker has performed excellently for Marseille this season and the Hammers are ready to table a bid of around £10 million. The former Nantes player has bagged five goals in the league this season and provided a further three assists in 28 games. His tally in all competitions stretches to eleven goals.

As well as electric pace and an eye for goal, there is another huge part of N’Koudou’s game that will certainly appeal to West Ham fans.

What he’s got to offer

N’Koudou’s teammate Benjamin Mendy recently highlighted the young Frenchman’s appeal:

“For the fans, seeing a player like that, who is exciting, can go past the defender, he’s like (Franck) Ribery when he was at his best, always trying to do something. To go forward, to excite, this is what they love at the Velodrome.”

The Hammers have enjoyed the impact Dimitri Payet has had at West Ham this season and the prospect of attracting another player with the potential to wow the crowd is certainly an exciting proposition.

Although N’Koudou believes that his ability to entertain the fans is certainly at the forefront of his game, the youngster admits that he has had to work on his end product:

“Before (at Nantes), I was a player who liked to show off. I liked to dribble, but I was almost useless. To get further, I had to become more efficient,”

“I worked hard on my game in the last thirty metres, the last act, the penultimate act.” stated N’Koudou.

Another crowdpleaser?

His words share a distinct similarity to Dimitri Payet when he was interviewed for Sky Sports by Thierry Henry recently. Payet spoke of how he worked at his game to become more consistent rather than producing a good performance every few games.

If N’Koudou has already proven that he can improve this part of his game at such a young age, there could be no end to the potential ability of the young Frenchman.

In a recent poll conducted by Le Phoceen, 88% of Marseille fans admitted to attending home games just so they could watch N’Koudou play. Dimitri Payet has undoubtedly the same effect on Hammers fans and it is this sheer flamboyance that West Ham fans want to see week-in, week-out.

There’s bound to be a host of interest in the winger but if the Hammers can pull this one off, it could be another signing West Ham fans will hail for many seasons to come.
