West Ham United are closing in on the signing of prodigious midfielder Agor Chukwudi and have already made an offer for the 17-year-old, according to All Nigeria Soccer.

The Hammers have been adding talented starlets to their youth ranks consistently over recent months and are being linked with a move for the Nigerian teenager.

The report suggests that Slaven Bilic’s men have already made an offer of €200,000 (£155,000) for the central midfielder, who features for the ASJ Academy in his homeland.

Chukwudi played a role in the Nigeria side that won the under-17 World Cup in 2015 and is being tipped as a player with a bright future.

ASJ Academy are keen on a 10 per sell-on clause to be placed in the starlet’s contract, with the Hammers ready to offer him a permanent deal without even bringing him to the club on trial first.

ASJ Academy’s CEO Emeka Amajiriaku has revealed that West Ham want Chukwudi and has admitted that a deal is likely to happen.

“West Ham have offered Agor Chukwudi a straight contract without him having to undergo trials, very soon he’ll turn 18,” he said.

“We are studying the offer and it is very likely we will accept it. We are interested in the player’s development and not the money that is being offered.”
